TechSmith homepage Redesign
This is a proof of concept homepage redesign for TechSmith. Their award-winning products, used by over 73+ million people worldwide, help users create better digital content for teaching, training, and marketing. The original homepage had some great elements, like a strong color palette, some good font choices, and a consistent tone of voice. But the layout was confusing and there was no clear visual hierarchy, which means the homepage didn’t highlight the stars of the show: the products!
On the original homepage, some of the information was repeated multiple times, or vaguely described and would have been better served as part of another page where there was more space to go into detail. These things could make users feel overwhelmed or confused with the information presented. Since TechSmith puts their customers first and emphasizes communicating clearly, it was on brand to design a homepage where their users could understand information quickly and easily. I incorporated a tagline, a slogan, and a short mission statement right at the top of the page to immediately draw attention and let viewers know what TechSmith does and who they are.
TechSmith has a wide range of customers, and I wanted to appeal to all of them. Their customer base includes Fortune 500 companies where time is a premium, marketers who want to demonstrate the value of their own products, teachers creating more engaging learning content for their students, employees working remotely for the first time, and more. A quick and easy introduction to TechSmith’s products, and an explanation of how to easily integrate them into their workflows was imperative for all of them. In the redesign, the products now have space to shine. I made the descriptions of the products clearer and more concise, and I dialed up the branding, making the products more recognizable through bolder choices with colors, fonts, and textures.
My creative process involved multiple steps. First, I dissected the design of the current homepage, noting the changes I would implement to make it more efficient and visually appealing. Then, I drafted a sketch of the redesign, fleshing out my ideas to restructure the layout and come up with better design solutions. Finally, I made a high-resolution mockup of the homepage to show what the final product would look like.
In the end, this redesign more accurately represents TechSmith’s amazing products and their value to customers, effectively communicating what TechSmith has to offer.
